What is the contest about?

The contest is an online photo competition for the best weddings in Central Florida at a specific type of venue. 

 

Who can participate in the contest?

Wedding venues, vendors, and recently married couples can participate by submitting photos of real weddings that took place at the specific type of venue being featured, and the public will vote for their favorite. To be eligible for entry, wedding venues and vendors must be actively operating businesses.  

 

Can couples submit their own wedding photos?

Yes, if they follow the rules and submit their entire vendor list. They can also encourage their vendors to participate and submit their wedding.

What if I'm not sure what venue category to choose? 

Head over to the venue search on WeddingVenueMap.com here - https://weddingvenuemap.com/venue-search/ and look for the venue you are submitting to see which categories they have submitted on their listing. 

 

Can I enter if I'm not a wedding venue map member? 

Yes, only one vendor / venue on the entire wedding team has to be a member for the submission to be valid. 

 

Are there any fees to participate?

No, there are no fees to participate in the contest in 2024.

How to Enter & Submission Details

What are the submission requirements?

Participants must submit one featured image and then up to 15 real wedding photos, a list of the entire vendor team that worked on that wedding, and the couple's contact information. Weddings must have taken place between June 1, 2023 and June 1, 2024. FOR THE FULL REQUIREMENTS - CLICK HERE FOR THE ENTRY PAGE 

 

When is the submission window open?

The submission window will be open from Monday, June 24th at 12:01am to Monday, July 8th at 11:59pm.

 

How do I submit a wedding for the contest?

You can submit your entry through our online submission form available on our website during the submission window.

 

Can I submit photos of more than one wedding?

Yes, each vendor / venue can submit one wedding per venue category. 

 

What photos should I share? 

You can choose one featured image and up to 15 photos (both landscape and portrait) from the wedding to be considered during public online voting. We recommend choosing images that tell the story of the day from start to finish with an emphasis on the emotion, the details and what made that wedding unique. 

 

What file formats and sizes are accepted for photo submissions?

We accept JPEG image formats. Each photo should be no larger than 4 MB and must be 300dpi. The 15 images total must not exceed 60MB or the form will reject your submission. 

 

What happens if more than one vendor / venue submits the same wedding?

We will accept the first submission and then delete the duplicate entry. 

 

Do I need to credit the photographers and vendors in my submission?

Yes, please provide a list of the vendor team, including the photographers, as part of your submission on the form.

 

What happens after I submit? 

You will receive an email from our system after the submission has been reviewed and accepted within 72 hours. That email will include the link to review your live entry, which will also be the same link to direct your followers to vote once the voting window opens. 

 

What happens with the ownership of the photos I share in the contest? 

The photographer maintains the copyright on all images. By entering, you accept our Terms & Conditions about where and how the photos will be featured and shared. 

 

Can I submit Weddings that have been previously published?

Yes, as long as you have the rights to the photos and proper permissions from the couple and vendors involved.

 

Can I withdraw my submission after it's been entered?

Yes, you can withdraw your submission by contacting our support team at mappys@weddingvenuemap.com before the voting period begins.

 

What if I encounter problems during the submission process?

If you encounter any issues, please contact our support team at mappys@weddingvenuemap.com.

Voting and Results 

What are the criteria for selecting the winner?

In 2024, the winners for each category will be selected based on public online voting. The entries with the most votes will win the contest. 

 

Will we be able to see how many votes we have? 

No, voting counts will be kept private. 

 

How can people vote?

The public can vote by visiting the dedicated link you'll receive to your entry on our website OR from the general gallery where all submitted photos will be displayed by category type. Each person (IP address) can vote once per category per day.

 

Can I promote my submission to get more votes?

Yes, participants are encouraged to promote their submissions to gather more votes.  Every member of the vendor team and the couples from the wedding are recommended to share their dedicated entry page link through email and on their social media channels to encourage their fans to vote. Please ensure that promotion is done fairly and ethically. 

 

How will you use the submitted photos?

Submitted photos may be used for contest promotion, displayed on our website for voting, published on the Wedding Venue Map blog, shared (with credit) on Wedding Venue Map social channels, and featured in our media coverage of the event.

 

When will voting take place?

Voting will take place here on the website from Friday, July 12th to Monday, July 22nd at 11:59pm EST. 

 

Is there a limit to how many times I or my followers can vote?

Yes, each person can vote once per category per IP address daily. 

 

What happens if there is a tie in the voting?

In case of a tie, a non-central Florida neutral panel of wedding industry judges will review the tied submissions and select the winner.

 

What do the winners get? 

  • Trophy: One prestigious crystal Mappy Awards trophy to commemorate the achievement given to the submitter. 
  • Featured Coverage: Coverage on our website homepage, blog and social media channels, showcasing the winning wedding in each category and the vendors involved. 
  • Mappy Winners Badge: An official Mappy Awards winners badge for use on websites, social media, and marketing materials.
  • Networking Opportunities: Opportunities to network with other top wedding professionals at the awards gala and related events.
  • Print Coverage: One photo featured in our trusted vendor guide, providing additional exposure to potential clients.
  • Email Blasts: Winners featured in email blasts to both B2B (business-to-business) and B2C (business-to-couples) audiences, enhancing visibility.
  • Winners Media Kit: A media kit provided to winners, including templates for press releases, social media posts, and promotional materials.
  • Bragging Rights: The prestige and marketing advantage of being recognized as the best in your category.

 

Will Mappys Award winners be able to purchase duplicate crystal award Trophies?

Yes. Mappy Award winners who were not the submitter will have the opportunity to purchase duplicate trophies at cost. 

 

When and where will the winner be announced?

The top three finalists per category with the most votes will be notified by email on Thursday, July 25th and given limited first access to purchase tickets to The Mappy Awards on August 22nd. Tickets will be available to Wedding Venue Map members on August 2nd and the general public on August 5th. 

The winner for each category will be announced on stage at the first in-person Mappy Awards Celebration on August 22nd. 

 

What will it cost to attend the mappy awards? 

The ticket prices will be $125.00+ for Wedding Venue Map members or finalists and $150.00+ for the general public and industry. +prices do not include sales tax

 

Are Mappy's winners required to attend the awards Celebration on August 22nd?

No, attending the celebration is optional, but is a great opportunity to accept your awards on stage in front of business peers and the Mappy Awards broadcast audience, take photos on the green carpet, and celebrate with our local industry.
